Local Heroes Dedicate Retirement To Protecting Minnesota's Clean Water

We spent the day following Bob and Pat in their RV collecting water samples from a few location on the Iron Range. It appears they’ve firmly rejected the path of traditional retirement and dedicated much of their time sharing information about the threat of sulfide ore copper mining in NE Minnesota.

We went from river to river collecting water samples and comparing them to weeks, months and years past. The complex information was communicated with diagrams, spreadsheets and intricate maps. Bob worked in the iron ore mines as an electrician and Pat was a teacher in the Ely school system. The way Bob and Pat delivered this amount of information can only be explained by decades of experience in their perspective careers.

We can all learn something from Bob and Pat these everyday super hero’s fighting for a clean water.
